Since Facebook launched over three years ago not much has been done for their design. After just recently adding chat to the site, Facebook is planning their largest redesign ever. Word is that the new design will launch in the next couple of weeks. Here’s what you’ll be seeing.
Facebook on the new redesign:
“… aimed at making things simpler, cleaner, and more relevant, while still giving you control over your own profile.”
After a lot of complaints that Facebook was becoming too spammy and MySpace like, Facebook has decided to clean up the profile page and separate information. There are now tabbed areas of your profile, including tabs for Feed, Wall, and Applications. By doing this they are separating third party content and applications from the first party Facebook areas of the site. This should go a long way to clean up pages and make the site more readable. Personally, I am all for separating the more important information from the crappy applications some people add.
