Probably not, though seven states are considering lowering the legal drinking age to 18. The argument is that at 18 years old you can fight a war in Iraq, get married, get credit cards, have children, purchase tobacco, and be tried as an adult in court, but buying a six-pack is way illegal. Evidently some folks in Kentucky, Missouri, Minnesota, South Carolina, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Vermont think that is bullshit.
Of course they are facing a lot of strong opposition from those fine folks at MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), among other groups. One large problem with this plan is that seniors in high school would be able to buy and consume alcohol, but their friends in the class below wouldn’t - not likely that separation would work out well.
Sure would be nice for the first couple years of college though, wouldn’t it?
